If you’re not in a hurry and you’re looking for a high-quality video on a budget, then you can certainly find someone who can do it for you. But be prepared to wait. Good work takes time, and if you’re not paying top dollar, then you’re not going to be a priority for the video production company.

But wait, you say. Can’t I just have all three? Can’t I get a high-quality video done quickly and on a budget? Well, you can certainly ask. But as the saying goes, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

As much as we’d love to give you the perfect video at lightning speed and for a low cost, it’s just not realistic. Today, the best commercial of all time just turned 12. Happy Birthday to “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.” February 4th, 2010 was when millions found out that “Anything is possible when your man smells like Old Spice and not a lady.”

My favourite commercial of all time is the original Old Spice Commercial. I was fortunate enough to see it for the first time in a movie theatre on the big screen. Everyone was chatting before the movie started but the room went silent as soon as the attendees heard the line, “Hello Ladies.”

In 2010, the Old Spice commercial caused a stir in the advertising world, proving to be a revolutionary piece of marketing that took the world by storm. The commercial’s humour, creativity, and outstanding production made it a standout in the industry and propelled Old Spice to household fame. Being on camera and facing the lens, whether it be for a professional video shoot or a simple selfie, can feel like staring down the barrel of a gun. Nerves can be overwhelming and keep you from performing to the best of your ability. Fortunately, there are some tips and techniques you can use to help manage your nervousness so that you can make the most of your time in front of the camera.

1. Take a Moment to Relax

Taking a few moments to relax before shooting can help settle your nerves and get you into the right frame of mind. Relaxing can also come a little bit easier if you are wearing appropriate but comfortable clothing. Bring your comfy shoes along. Who knows, you may be able to wear them because your feet may not be in the shot. Note: Having a good night’s sleep can do wonders… but it’s not a deal breaker.

2. Know Your Lines

Knowing what you’re going to say before shooting will help alleviate some of your anxieties about being on camera. Rehearse your lines ahead of time so that when it comes time for filming, you already have them memorized and don’t have to worry about forgetting them while on camera.

3. Use A Teleprompter

If you have a lot of lines to memorize, ask the video production team if you can use a teleprompter. By using a teleprompter you can spend a bit more time focusing on how you present yourself rather than trying to memorize all of your lines. Note: Be sure to ask the video production team for the teleprompter before the day of the video shoot.

4. Work With The Team

The camera crew has no intention of stressing you out. They are a part of your video production team. As they strive to do their best, they want to do everything they can to help you do your best. It’s okay to lean on them. If you are nervous, you can let them know and they will help you out.

5. Have Fun

Remember that being in front of a camera is supposed to be fun! Instead of focusing solely on how nerve-wracking it is, try to enjoy yourself and appreciate how blessed you are to have this opportunity in front of an audience!

By following these tips and techniques, you should find yourself feeling more comfortable when facing down the barrel of a camera lens! With practice and patience, being on camera will come naturally and feel like second nature before long!
